Laos is a landlocked country surrounded by Vietnam ,China, Burma, Thailand and Cambodia.
Thailand is the major investor in Laos , has the tendency to consider its neighbour a backward country where people speak a funny language close to Thai. But Laos is much more preserved than Thailand in terms of culture and it doesn't want to loose its soul to imitate the Big brother.



One who travels in Northern Laos along the Mekong river, the spinal column that covers 1800 km, will discover villages living in quasi autarchy, around a Buddhist temple if they are Lao Lum.

The year is punctuated by religious and animist rites.

A memorable experience is the Baci, a ceremony consisting in tiding the guests's wrists with a cotton thread to retain our protecting spirits in case of disease, before a trip, for a wedding or during New year in April.
The wealth of Laos is its ethnic mosaic with 130 groups and 4 linguistic families. Walking few hours up in the hills can transport you in another world .
